Missed opportunities

Yesterday was just like any other day, nothing really special happened and I didn’t have the opportunity to get out and make any photos. As spring nears the sun is still up when arriving home after work, which is a welcome change. It wasn’t until after a few moments of being home did I notice the sky in the west appeared to be on fire. It was one of the most amazing sunsets I’ve seen. Between the clouds and the amazing colors of the sunset, I quickly realized the missed opportunity to make stunning photos.

My first thought was that I should be at the lake, setup on the East side with the lighthouse and the sunset in my viewfinder. Being that the sun sets so fast and realizing there was no way I could make it out of the neighborhood before the sun was gone, I pulled out my trusty iPhone and snapped a photo. Is it a great photo? No but I had to do something. I really wish Mother Nature would coordinate sunsets like this with me. Although the sun sets everyday, it’s not everyday that you get such a memorable view.

Can does not mean we should

Another iPhone story. Just because we can check our email while brushing our teeth does not mean we should. I have two minutes to kill every morning while brushing my teeth. So, I’m standing there with iPhone in hand. One of the few times I leave the water running since my cat decides she wants to watch. All of the sudden, the iPhone jumps out of my hand and lands in the sink. Spinning around the sink three times, like a basketball on the rim of the goal, each time passing through the running water. The iPhone was wet, top to bottom. I quickly dried the phone and looked it over. The phone was still working and appeared to be ok. The phone survived and the cat enjoyed the show. That was almost an expensive two minutes. Yep, I’ll still do it.
